Our kids have been wanting to go to Disneyland forever it seems. Well, it is expensive, so we told the kids when we filled a 5 gallon jug with change we would have enough money to go. They were very excited about this prospect. It didn't fill too fast, although I did find a $20 one morning while running. So we were beginning to think it would be a 5 + year deal. This year Disneyland ran a program that said...give a day of service and we will give you a free ticket to our parks for a day (if you are over 6 years old). Vern and I jumped on that deal because it was the only possible way to go to Disneyland for the price we could afford. We didn't tell the kids and made blankets for the Linus Project one night for FHE. One night I counted the change in the jar and we had exactly the right amount to pay for Meghan's ticket. She was the only one we had to pay for since Little Vern was under 3 for 3 more weeks at the time. What a blessing that Disneyland only cost us $62 for 7 people. Not a bad deal.
On Sunday morning the 14th of March, we left them a sign on the kitchen table that said..."We are going to Disneyland, go pack your bags." It was a fun thing to do. They were so excited. We went to 8am church at Palm Valley Ward and then headed off to Anaheim, CA. That was the longest 5 hours ever in a car. They were so excited to get there they kept asking the dreaded traveling car questions.
After a good nights sleep we headed across the street to Disneyland! The kids were awesome! We got to about 1/2 of the Park in 12 hours. We loved the experience and very impressed with the Park.
Here are the rides we went on.
Dumbo, We met the princesses, Toon Town, Small World, Tea Cups, The Matterhorn, Alice in Wonderland, Finding Nemo, Space Mountain(Yes all the girls), rockets, the train around the Park, Splash Mt. (Dad and Natalie), Winnie The Pooh and we watched the afternoon parade.
Ben slept well in the stroller we borrowed from Anna (thanks!). We brought in all of our food and didn't spend a dime in the park. Afterwards we went to a nearby Wal Mart and the kids got their Disney souvenirs for very low cost. We got home around 3am and survived the next day at work.
It was an incredible trip! We had a lot of fun and can't wait to save our change again to see the other half of the park.

What an awesome surprise and what a great way to go! I loved reading all of your catch up blogs. I sooo have to do that now too. Before a year goes past. :) Love ya!
